Learn Who We Are

  • Dr.
    Shadi Halim

    Dr. Halim has been practicing general dentistry since 1999 and is a graduate of the Dental School at the University of Alberta. Dr. Halim has a strong desire to offer his patients the latest dentistry has to offer. He is continually upgrading his extensive knowledge base with continuing education courses in a variety of areas. His practice is also expanding in the field of implantology, as more and more people in the community require implant treatment to replace missing teeth. His gentle approach to his family practice provides each patient with individual care, creating as comfortable an experience as possible.

    • Ontario Dental Association (ODA)
    • Ottawa Dental Society (ODS)
    • The Global Pankey Study Club

    Outside the office Shadi enjoys spending time with his wife, Nevine and their son and daughter. He is a cycling enthusiast, and enjoys hiking in the amazing trails around the Capital region.

    Nikki van der Wal

    Dr. Nikki van der Wal

    Dr. van der Wal grew up on the west coast of Canada in Victoria, B.C. After completing a BSc in Halifax NS, she attended dental school at McGill University, graduating in 2017 with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD). Upon graduation, she received several awards recognizing her involvement in public health and community dentistry including the American Association for Public Health Dentistry Award, the Prix Michelle-Blain Prize for serving the interest of her colleagues, and the Dr. Sharok Esfandiari Award for achieving excellent academic standing while demonstrating outstanding personal initiative in social equity, diversity awareness, and community service. She has recently completed a General Practice Residency program at Dalhousie University, where she gained experience in complex dental treatment, oral surgery, implant dentistry, and hospital-based pediatric care. She also gained accreditation in oral, inhalation, and IV sedation. Nikki is motivated to stay up to date with the latest dental techniques and technologies in order to provide a high standard of care for her patients while maintaining a friendly and patient-centered clinical environment for patients of all ages. She has a special interest in pediatric and special-care dentistry and is passionate about taking the time to create a supportive dental home for her community members. Nikki is a member of the Ontario Dental Association, and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.  In her free time you will find her outside hiking, running, or rock climbing at the nearest bouldering gym in Kanata. She loves to be in nature and on the water, and she is excited to explore the many outdoor adventures Ottawa has to offer!

  • Dr.
    Dorothy Marko

    Dr. Marko graduated in 1980 from Western University, not too far from her childhood home in Windsor Ontario. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) making the Dean’s honor list. At her graduation, she was presented with several prestigious awards including the American Association of Endodontics Award, the Dr. George Bedrosian Award in Restorative Dentistry, and the Mosby Book Award in Occlusion. In 1980, she chose Ottawa to start her career as an associate and within a year purchased the practice. After 33 years of ownership, she transitioned to focus on dentistry only and left running the business to others. She is very pleased to have joined Palladium Dental and to be able to work in the community she lives in. Dorothy strives to keep abreast of the latest in dental technology and techniques. She is passionate about providing you with the best care in a friendly environment. Dr. Marko is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, the Ontario Dental Association, the Ottawa Dental Society, and the  Ottawa Women Dentist Study Club.

    In her free time, you may find her cooking up a feast as she entertains family and friends.  On a sunny day, she’ll be gardening in her backyard or golfing. She and her husband Peter have been known to be adventurous travelers checking out many corners of the world.

  • Dr. Nicole Adriano

    A local to the community, Dr. Adriano grew up in Kanata, ON. After completing her BS in Biomedical Science at the University of Ottawa, she went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB. Upon graduation, Nicole was awarded the Dr. Glen Zenith Award, given to a student based on positive contributions made to classroom and clinical experiences as demonstrated through leadership, compassion and respect shown with peers and patients. She is excited to return to her home community to provide patient-centered care, and create long lasting relationships built on a foundation of trust and clear communication.

    Nicole is a member of the Ontario Dental Association (ODA), Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO), The Global Pankey Study Club, and the Ottawa Women Dentists Study Club.

    Outside the office, Nicole enjoys traveling, hiking, pottery, and most of all, cooking and baking. She is always happy to share a recipe or a restaurant recommendation!
